Belmont’s Curse: Where to Go After Arcane Whip

An early-game route reminder that keeps optional backtracking separate from the next story destination. Location spoilers below.

QUICK ANSWER

For the published early continuation route, work toward Prison Tower via Court of Miracles, Bridge of the Millers and Burned District. Returning to Sewer Reservoir for an upgrade is an optional detour, not the next mandatory objective.

First, finish the movement lesson

ShowGamer’s opening walkthrough places the whip lesson in the Abandoned Sewers after leaving The Fallen’s arena. Follow the first anchor lesson before assuming that receiving the card completed every unlock.

  1. Try a yellow ring for a swing across the gap.
  2. Use a purple point for a pull upward, rather than trying to build a swing.
  3. Continue through the anchor-and-spike section, matching each point to its movement.
  4. Use the later enemy-grapple lesson to practise approaching a target.

These are different actions, even though they share the whip. Default button names may differ after remapping.

The short route

  1. Path of the Rat

Return from the sewers toward Paris using the traversal lessons.

  2. Court of Miracles

Continue toward Bridge of the Millers.

  3. Bridge of the Millers

Operate the mill lever to change direction before climbing.

  4. Burned District → Prison Tower

Follow the published continuation toward the next story destination.

Check the anchor before your input

The route guide distinguishes golden swing rings from purple pull-up anchors. If movement is not behaving as expected, identify the anchor type before assuming you need a different weapon.

KONAMI describes the whip as both an action and movement tool, and Arcana as powers obtained from defeated bosses. Those broad systems do not, by themselves, prove a specific unlock route.

At the early fork: choose a purpose

NoobFeed’s early-items route recommends the Tower before the Cemetery because of the movement interaction gained on the Joan route. Treat that as the author’s suggested order, not proof that the Cemetery is forbidden first.

  • Story: head for Prison Tower and the Joan branch.
  • Upgrade: return to an earlier marked book using the new anchors.
  • Another guardian: follow the Cemetery branch when ready, then review the keys required for the Catacombs gate.

The first Death encounter is later in the Catacombs. It is separate from the later Death-related ability route; do not interpret a first encounter as an immediate Double Jump reward.

Traversal whip versus whip-class equipment

NoobFeed’s whip guide makes an important distinction: the early grapple is a utility action, not one of the equippable whip weapons needed for the separate collection objective.

If a Work of Mercy asks for three whip weapons, repeatedly using Arcane Whip will not collect them. If the problem is a swing anchor, changing your equipped sword is not the first thing to investigate. Read which kind of objective the menu names.

Use the route references together

The Atlas gives the named-room sequence. ShowGamer describes the return through Path of the Rat, the crossing in Court of Miracles and the mill mechanism. Read the two together when a room name or camera position looks unfamiliar.

No complete matching post-whip video transcript was obtained. The selected Prima Pixel tips and Fallen-fight videos have no captions available. They are not being used to certify the continuation route.

What this route does not cover

This page covers the early return after Arcane Whip only. It does not prescribe the route after every later ability. Room names may differ with game language; follow the linked source for its room references and compare your map.
